A Sonoma County man was led away with tears in his eyes after being convicted of vehicular manslaughter for a crash that killed five family members.

Ryan Karr was handcuffed and taken off to jail after jurors on Monday found him guilty of five counts of felony vehicular manslaughter without gross negligence while intoxicated for Highway 101 crash in January 2007.

In returning the felony convictions, jurors decided against lesser misdemeanor charges.

Prosecutors had argued that Karr was driving too fast in rush hour traffic when he rear-ended a stopped car with six people inside. The car burst into flames, killing five people between the ages of 54 and seven.

A four-year-old boy survived, but suffered serious burns and lost an arm and a leg.
