An Ohio woman who shot herself last fall as she was about to be evicted from her foreclosed home has died in a nursing home.
Sommerville Funeral Services in Akron says 91-year-old Addie Polk died Sunday. The cause of death has not been released, though a spokesman for the Summit County Medical Examiner's office says Polk's death was not related to the shooting.
U.S. Rep. Dennis Kucinich of Cleveland had called Polk the face of a national tragedy, the housing crisis affecting millions of Americans.
Polk shot herself in the chest with a handgun on Oct. 1 when deputies came to take her from the house in Akron where she had lived for 38 years.
She had been at the Arbors of Fairlawn nursing facility since her release from Akron General Hospital.
