Nine injured in S.F. Muni bus crash

Legal News     updated  2010/01/05 04:48

Several people were injured early this morning in a crash involving a San Francisco Municipal Railway bus, a fire lieutenant said.

Firefighters responded to reports of a Muni bus crashed near 18th and De Haro streets just after midnight, San Francisco fire Lt. Ken Smith said.

An inbound Polk-19 bus apparently collided with a small truck in the intersection, sending the bus coach off the roadway into some bushes, Smith said. Initial reports that a bus coach overturned were not accurate.

Nine people were injured and needed medical attention at the scene, Smith said.

Seven of the injured were taken to a hospital with moderate injuries, Smith said, including the driver of the bus coach. The driver of the truck suffered serious injuries.

Muni officials and the San Francisco Police Department are jointly investigating the cause of the crash.
