Sendik's Food Markets in the Milwaukee area is recalling several brands of pistachios due to possible contamination with salmonella.

The company said Wednesday it was acting voluntarily, and there have been no reported cases of illness.

Federal health officials warned people last week to avoid eating all pistachios and products containing them. That came after traces of salmonella were found in a California facility of Setton Pistachio of Terra Bella, Inc. That's the second-largest pistachio processor in the nation.

Sendik's says customers can return the pistachio products for a full refund.

Salmonella is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections. Young children, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems are most vulnerable.
