A State Department official confirms the first death of an American in Haiti, saying that at least 164 U.S. citizens have been evacuated since Tuesday's quake hit.
42 American officials and their families and another 72 private citizens have been flown out to safety. Another 370 Americans were awaiting flights out today.
Meantime, President Obama says Haiti is on the top of the United State's agenda. This morning he announced the US is making a $100 million dollar relief promise for the country.
