Toyota's legal woes seem to be piling up. The troubled automaker faces a Congressional hearing next week and now a local law firm has filed a class action law suit on behalf of all Toyota car owners in the Silver State. The lawsuit not only targets the manufacturing company but local dealerships as well, including some right here in town. The plaintiffs allege this case is about making sure the repairs get done while also maintaining the cash value of their vehicles.
Struggling to maintain it's reputation for quality and reliability, some now believe the massive recall could affect the high resale value of those cars on the list.
"If because of the problems…this has caused a loss in value in these vehicles...someone has to compensate the owners, " said attorney Dennis Kennedy, who filed the suit.
The class action suit states that the recalled vehicles have suffered a reduction in market value by up to 6 percent due to the repairs. They now want the company to fork out any money the customers could lose in their investment. But Findlay Toyota, who was named in the suit, insists that the defective accelerator pedals and floor mats haven't dinged the car's worth.
