Brown Shoe Co Inc said it will voluntarily recall eight styles of its children's shoes shaped to resemble a car on concerns the footwear's decorative wheels could detach, posing a choking hazard.
The company will recall a total 1.4 million of its China-made Buster Brown & Co clog children's shoes, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said in a separate statement.
The retailer, which had distributed the footwear along with its affiliate Pagoda International Footwear Ltd based in Hong Kong, had received two reports of the decorative wheels detaching from the shoe, the commission said.
"Though no injuries were reported, we believe the right thing to do for consumer safety is to voluntarily recall all shoes that could create this hazard among children," Brown Shoe said in an e-mail.
About 73,000 pairs were recalled in April, the commission said.
