According to a PR Newswire report, following 10 years pending in the Circuit Court of Madison County, Illinois, Allstate entered into an agreement settling a class action lawsuit, which includes all Allstate and Encompass entities. According to the report, Allstate allegedly utilized a computerized medical bill review system that didn't calculate accurate medical expenses from auto and homeowners policies. According to the report, "Allstate believes its bill review procedures help policyholders maximize their benefits by reimbursing providers the appropriate amount for services. Allstate's policy is to try to resolve billing disputes with providers while protecting its policyholders' interests."
